Painting on location

Painting plein air is a real joy of mine. There's something special about being in one place for a few hours, letting the weather and light pass by. Wildlife start to ignore you and carry on as if you've always been there some, curious, come and say hello. Paintings done outdoors have an immediacy about them, mark making is fresh and bold. I try to work quickly to capture the light, afternoon light being very different to that of morning.
